Start the Year With a Plan or Wing It?

For some, starting a new year can be as simple as waking up to another day. Others may prefer to plan ahead for their annual goals. These individuals are often described as goal-focused or goal-oriented. I fall into this group. I like to outline the objectives I aim to achieve for the year. I create lists of projects for my home, family, and writing targets. I believe this helps me stay focused and manage my schedule effectively.

What’s the best way to start a plan? What outcomes do you expect? Can you track your progress?

For me, starting a plan for the year involves creating a list of objectives. I maintain multiple lists that cover both personal and professional goals. From there, I set benchmarks to monitor my progress and re-evaluate my timeline. I find it important to prioritize goals.

Here is a website I found useful. You may find it helpful as well. https://plantoorganize.com/planning-habits-for-the-new-year/?v=aee816c341a8

My writing goals this year are to release a new short story each month, and publish two of my new novels, Forbidden Bite, the House of Elysian series, and A Wolf for a Wolf.

Personal goals include a summer trip, a house remodel, and several things for my kiddo, including sports and high school prep.

Balance is essential. I review my workload and schedule weekly to make sure my goals are realistic. I avoid feeling overwhelmed, so setting practical goals and timelines is important. Leave room for flexibility and the unexpected. Remember, it is never too late to start a plan.

Let me know which techniques help you plan your year, or if you prefer to wing it. Happy planning or winging!

Per my plan, the latest new short story releases are Snowed In At The Lodge and It's Snow Problem. February is a writing month, so look for new short stories in March. New novel release dates are pending, but as soon as I know, so will you.

Thank you for reading my blog and sharing your time and thoughts. This is the only place to find early-release details and cover reveals. Here is the March cover and blurb release for What The Heart Wants.
